WASHINGTON, Pa. (August 4, 2026) – The Down East Bird Dawgs saw their three-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night, as Cole Fowler's three-run homer in the second inning proved to be the decisive blow in a 5-1 loss to the Washington Wild Things at EQT Park, dropping Down East to 31-42 on the season.

Ali LaPread gave Down East an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first before Fowler's three-run blast put Washington ahead 3-1 in the second. Antonio Monroy added a solo homer in the third to extend the lead to 4-1 before Fowler added a run-scoring triple in the eighth to close out the 5-1 final.

Drew Henderson (3-7) took the loss despite a solid outing, allowing four runs on three hits over 5⅔ innings with six strikeouts and three walks.

Kelvin Perez (5-2) earned the win for Washington, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Michael Foltz Jr. closed it out with two dominant innings, striking out five batters to collect the first save of his professional career.

The Bird Dawgs (31-42) look to bounce back Wednesday, August 5, at 6:05 p.m. ET against the Wild Things at EQT Park.
