Offense Goes Cold as Bird Dawgs Blanked 8-0, Rubber Match Awaits Sunday
BROCKTON, Mass. (August 15, 2026) – The Down East Bird Dawgs managed just two hits and were shut out 8-0 by the Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium Saturday night, evening the series at one game apiece and setting up a rubber match Sunday afternoon to close out the two-week road trip with a chance to still claim the series.
The Rox built their lead methodically, scoring two in the third on a bases-loaded walk from Evan Giordano and a Jack-Thomas Wold sacrifice fly, two more in the fourth on an Austin White error-aided run and an Evan Sleight RBI single, and two more in the fifth on a White two-run double to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
Sleight scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and John Cristino added a solo homer in the seventh to close out the 8-0 final.
The Bird Dawgs managed just a Trotter Harlan single in the sixth and a Jacob Corson line drive in the ninth for their only two hits of the night.
Wes Albert (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over four innings with six walks and no strikeouts.
Pierce Williams (2-4) was dominant for Brockton, allowing just one hit with eight strikeouts and two walks across seven shutout frames.
The Bird Dawgs (37-46) look to take the rubber match and the series Sunday, August 16, at 3:30 p.m. at Campanelli Stadium.
