Miller-Green's Grand Slam Ignites Bird Dawgs in 15-1 Rout, Miner Deals Six Strong
KINSTON, N.C. (August 20, 2026) – Lyle Miller-Green launched a grand slam in the third inning to turn a 1-0 deficit into a commanding lead, and the Down East Bird Dawgs poured it on with eight runs in the eighth to rout the Trois-Rivières Aigles 15-1 at Historic Grainger Stadium Thursday night, taking a 3-0 series lead and winning their third straight game to pull within five games of a playoff spot at 40-47.
Trois-Rivières struck first on a Drew Barragan RBI single in the third before Miller-Green answered emphatically with a grand slam to put Down East ahead 4-1.
Stephen DiTomaso added an RBI single in the fourth, Tyler Blaum contributed an RBI single in the fifth, and Kalae Harrison hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to push the lead to 7-1.
The Bird Dawgs put the game away in the eighth, sending the lineup through and plating eight runs as Backus, Yeniel Laboy, and Trotter Harlan each drove in runs, Kenny Levari added a two-RBI single, and Harrison capped the frame with an RBI single and a two-run single to close out the 15-1 final.
