TROY, N.Y. (August 29, 2026) – Lyle Miller-Green homered twice in the completed suspended game and the Down East Bird Dawgs held off a late Tri-City rally to win 12-7 before falling 4-3 in the seven-inning nightcap, splitting the twin bill at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium Saturday and heading into the series finale at 44-51.

Suspended Game

The Bird Dawgs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when Jacob Corson doubled in a run, and Colby Backus added an RBI single before Dylan Broderick tied it with a two-run homer in the bottom half.

Down East responded with four runs in the second as Stephen DiTomaso singled in a run and Miller-Green launched a three-run homer before JanCarlos Colon drove in a run on a groundout to make it 6-3.

The Bird Dawgs exploded for four more in the third as Trey Law and Backus each drove in runs on base hits and Kalae Harrison added a two-run double to push the lead to 10-3 before the tarp crew was called out Thursday night.

Upon resumption Saturday, Tri-City chipped away with two runs in the bottom of the third on a Nick Monile error-aided score and a Max Mandler RBI groundout before adding two more in the fourth on a Monile RBI double and an RJ Stinson RBI single to cut the deficit to 10-7.

Miller-Green answered with his second homer of the game — a two-run shot in the fifth — to close out the 12-7 final.

Axel Andueza's start was cut short, allowing three runs on three hits over two innings with one strikeout and one walk. Miguel Cirino (1-2) earned the win, tossing two scoreless innings on two hits with one strikeout. Greg Martinez collected his fifth save, coming in with the game-tying run on deck in the eighth and escaping with two strikeouts and no walks.

Chad Gartland (2-4) took the loss, surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits over three innings with two strikeouts and two walks.

Game Two

Colby Backus put Down East in front with a solo homer in the second before Tri-City answered with RBI doubles from Max Mandler and Mike Campagna to take a 2-1 lead.

Yeniel Laboy's sacrifice fly tied it in the fourth before Jon LeGrande singled in the go-ahead run to put the ValleyCats back in front 3-2.

Miller-Green's sacrifice fly tied it again in the fifth, but Campagna — who doubled three times on the night — drove in the eventual winning run to set the 4-3 final.

The Bird Dawgs had the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on second in the final frame but could not come through.

Drew Henderson (5-8) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on nine hits over five innings with three strikeouts and two walks.

Austin Dill (3-5) earned the win for Tri-City, allowing two earned runs on five hits over 5⅔ innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Wyatt Cameron collected his 10th save, stranding the tying run on third with two strikeouts.

The Bird Dawgs (44-51) look to force a series split in their final regular season road game Sunday, August 30, at 5 p.m. ET at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
