Down East Bird Dawgs Reveal 2027 Regular Season Schedule
KINSTON, N.C. (October 1, 2026) – The Down East Bird Dawgs, along with the National Association of Professional Baseball (NAPB), an MLB Partner League, have announced the 2027 regular season schedule. The season begins at home on Friday, May 7, 2027, at Superior Metal Structures & Concrete Field at Historic Grainger Stadium, as the Bird Dawgs host the Washington Wild Things.
The 2027 season marks the first with the league operating under its new name. The Frontier League has rebranded as the National Association of Professional Baseball (NAPB), which remains an MLB Partner League. The 2027 season features a 102-game schedule, including 51 home games and 51 away games.
For the third straight year, the Bird Dawgs will host Fourth of July at the ballpark, closing out a six-game homestand against the Florence Y'alls on Sunday, July 4, 2027.
The Bird Dawgs final home game is Sunday, August 29, against the New Jersey Jackals. The regular season wraps up on the road with a three-game series at the Tri-City ValleyCats in Troy, NY, on September 3-5.
Home Opponents: The Bird Dawgs will host 11 NAPB teams at Grainger Stadium, including the Washington Wild Things, Trois-Rivières Aigles, Quebec Capitales, Tri-City ValleyCats, Ottawa Titans, Sussex County Miners, New York Boulders, Florence Y'alls, Brockton Rox, Lake Erie Crushers, and New Jersey Jackals. The Lake Erie Crushers, Florence Y'alls, and Washington Wild Things will make their first-ever visits to Kinston in 2027.
Away Opponents: The Bird Dawgs will face 10 NAPB teams on the road, including the Florence Y'alls, Lake Erie Crushers, Sussex County Miners, Brockton Rox, New Jersey Jackals, Washington Wild Things, Tri-City ValleyCats, Evansville Otters, New York Boulders, and the league's newest club, the Cleburne Railroaders. The Bird Dawgs will visit two new ballparks for the first time, traveling to Evansville, IN, for a three-game series July 16-18 and to Cleburne, TX, for a six-game series August 3-8.
