KINSTON, N.C. (June 21, 2025) –The Down East Bird Dawgs were overpowered from start to finish Saturday night, managing just three hits in a 12-0 loss to the Tr-City ValleyCats.

The ValleyCats took the lead in the second, when Cam Jones drove in a run on a double and Kyle Novak hit a two-run single to make it 4-0.

Josh Leslie doubled to bring in a run in the third for Tri-City, and Oscar Campos smacked a two-run homer in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0.

Tri-City exploded for five runs on four hits in the ninth to cap the scoring at 12-0.

The ValleyCats hit eight doubles and added a homer with 13 hits total.

Ali LaPread secured two of the three Bird Dawgs hits while Trey Law hit a single in the ninth.

Arlo Marynczak (3-0) threw a complete game shutout, tossing 131 pitches, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out 12.

Spencer Johnston (3-3) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits while striking out five over five innings. David Tiburcio had a strong outing in relief as he delivered two innings, giving up one hit and striking out two.

The Bird Dawgs fall to 13-23 as Tri-City took a 3-2 lead in the series. The series finale is set for Sunday, June 22, at 7 p.m.
