King signed with the Bird Dawgs ahead of the 2025 season but suffered a season-ending injury prior to Opening Day.

He played four seasons of collegiate baseball at Division I UC Irvine from 2020 to 2023. After appearing in four games during his freshman season, King broke out in 2021, posting a 1.98 ERA across 29 relief appearances while striking out 45 batters and recording eight saves. Following the season, he earned Perfect Game USA Third Team All-American honors, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American recognition, and was named First Team All-Big West.

In 2022, King made 24 appearances, finishing with a 5.56 ERA and 29 strikeouts. That summer, he competed in the Alaska Baseball League with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, helping lead the team to a league championship while posting a 2.51 ERA over 15 relief appearances and collecting eight saves.

During his final collegiate season in 2023, King made 28 appearances out of the bullpen, recording a 3.41 ERA with a career-high 55 strikeouts and eight saves.

Following his collegiate career, King signed with the Minnesota Twins in 2023. He appeared in two games in the Florida Complex League that year, pitching 1.2 innings, and returned in 2024 for one appearance, making a start and logging 0.2 innings. He also spent the fall of 2024 in the Arizona Fall League with the Salt River Rafters, where he made eight appearances, striking out 10 batters over 9.1 innings pitched.
